November reign

Well, folks; it's that time of year again. Layers, boots, thick socks, coats... it's effing freezing outside right now and it seemed like it came on without warning. Seattle doesn't do a stellar job of easing into weather patterns; it's more of a cold slap across the face to indicate the arrival of the next season here. In any case, November brings some exciting events in the world of fashion and beyond...

  • Today is the last day of the Nordstrom half-yearly sale. Did you score any sweet deals? If you missed this go-round, fear not: just wait for the after-Thanksgiving sales. Hoo boy; love me some Nordies!
  • Local designer Vian Hunter is having an anniversary sale at her shop on Friday, November 11th. Being in the market for a new holiday party dress, I am definitely planning on stopping by to scope out the goods.
  • The Versace for H&M line launches on Saturday, November 19th (report at Seattle Met). If the Missoni for Target debacle is any indication for how the day-of launch will go, I may sit this one out. Call me crazy, but sitting in the rain and cold during the wee hours in downtown Seattle doesn't exactly sound like my cup of tea.

  • I turn 30. More on that later.

  • The Nordic Fashion Bienalle at the Nordic Heritage Museum ends on Sunday, November 13th. As I reported last month, this one is a must-see; make sure you take a trip to Ballard and check it out before it's gone.

  • etsyRAIN, the Seattle-area group of Etsy artists, is having a Homemade Holiday Show at the Seattle Center over Thanksgiving weekend. The one and only LaRu is one of the featured artists at the show (you may remember a certain star-studded art night that happened a few months ago at her studio). This will be a fantastic opportunity to find some truly unique holiday gifts and support local artists.

These events are just a taste of the many sales, shows and specials going on throughout the Puget Sound area this month. Are you in the know about a can't-miss fashion event happening soon? Please share in the comments!

'tis the season,
